Eugene "Chick" Cichowski, age 90 of Northbrook passed away March 24, 2025. Beloved husband to the late Mary Ann "Toots" Cichowski. Loving father of Ted (Patra), Tammi Cichowski, Tim (Kristin) Cichowski, Tinna Plueger, Traci (Brian) Johnston, and the late Terri (Charles) Kvistad. Dear Opa of Madison (Adam), Cathryn, Makena, Payton, Turner, Kaalea, Clay, Cole, Carl (Caitlin), Caitlyn, Jake, Taylor, and Teagan. Great Opa of Remi and Owen. Fond brother of the late Edward (late Alice) Cichowski and Alex (late Lois) Cichowski. Loving uncle, cousin, and friend to many.
Chick was a teacher, coach, and friend to many New Trier students, staff, and athletes.

Orville Gerald “Jerry” Kates, 92, of Northbrook, passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2025. Jerry began his career in 1960 at New Trier High School, where he worked as an assistant indoor, outdoor, and cross-country track coach, a driver’s education teacher, and an advisor. During summers, he taught summer school and worked as a manager at Gillson Park/Wilmette Beach. When New Trier West opened in 1965, he became the head track coach there. Later in life, he returned to school to earn a master’s degree in special education, which he taught for the remainder of his career. He felt fortunate to have spent his career at New Trier, where he built lasting friendships with both faculty and students. He loved his students and found great joy in teaching, coaching, and serving as an advisor.
Jerry is survived by his children, Nancy Greenwood, Susan Pateras, Kathy Mack, Janet (John) Ingram, and Jeffrey Kates. Jerry was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Angeline (Cordera) Kates.
